Conference Overview

What is the Digital Car Conference & Exhibition?

The Digital Car Conference & Exhibition, sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), will focus on digital technology and the growing telematics industry, reflecting the common paths of the automotive, consumer electronics and computer industries. The theme for the first conference is Telematics: What Do People Really Want, an intriguing topic covering the application of wireless communication and navigation electronics to passenger cars.

What is Unique About Digital Car?

Digital Car technical presentations will be limited to 400 on-site attendees and 400 online attendees who will be PC wired for complete interaction with the presenters.

Who is Expected to Attend Digital Car?

More than 5,000 design engineers, automotive engineers, consumer electronics and aftermarket companies and consumers will visit the exhibit. Approximately 100 exhibitors from the consumer electronics, telecommunications and automotive industries will display at the inaugural event.

When will Digital Car be Held?

The first Digital Car Conference & Exposition will be held March 4-7, 2002 at Cobo Center in Detroit. It will be held in Detroit in odd-numbered years.

Why Hold a Conference on Telematics?

The meteoric rise of research in telematics has paralleled consumer expectations in the automobile marketplace. Consumers will expect many, if not all of the electronic conveniences of home in their automobiles in the near future. Intelligent vehicle technology has opened up a new breed of automotive engineering in the form of advanced electronics, computers and software applications. These systems, applied to the automobiles, will impact the vehicle of the future in the areas of communications, information, navigation, entertainment, safety, and security.
